This litter is the third one for our small kennel and comes with a new level of excitement as Pam is a new import for us. She came over from Finland at the age of 3 years after having been bred to Kajo, who resides in the North of Finland. Both parents have passed their basic required health clearances as well as a few additional ones and this litter is a first for each of them. The combined hip index for this litter is currently sitting at 224 as of September 2025, which is well above the ideal 200 minimum set out by the SPJ. When it comes to epilepsy, something that happens within the breed, the litters expected epilepsy score is currently sitting at 0.344 as of September 2025, which is well below the ideal 0.6 maximum set out by the SPJ. Also, this combination will produce puppies that fit within the written standard for colours and traits.
Pam holds a special place in my heart as I have known her since she was a little 2 month old pup. I was there when she was picked up from her breeders home by her previous owner, Maria. Additionally I have had the pleasure of spending several weeks with Pam during 2022 and 2023 while travelling abroad with my own dogs. Pam has had a very nice show career in Finland thanks to Maria. She has been BOB puppy x2, Junior BOB x3, Junior BOS x1, BOB x2, and BOS x1. She was also awarded a Group 3rd in the FCI group 5 at a very large international show in Finland with >35 dogs participating in the group level. Additionally while we were in Finland in 2025 Pam spent several weeks travelling with Kyle and I across several countries and in many rings. On this trip she completed her C.I.E title, which is an international beauty title that must be done over a minimum of 3 countries and takes over 1 year to complete. While travelling with us she participated in 3 shows, 2 in Lithuania and 1 in Estonia. She took BOB x2, BOS x1, LT CAC x2, LT CACIB x2, EE CAC x1, EE CACIB x1, and finished off with a beautiful Group 2nd while in Estonia. Once she is done raising this litter she will be shown here in Canada as well.
Kajo on the other hand is a true working dog; he has had the focus put on a working career rather than a show career. He lives in the FAR north of Finland; about 250km North of the start of the arctic circle. He has been an incredible forest dog during his 5 working seasons. Together with his owner he has barked at a countless number of moose and had ~20 moose shot for him, bringing food to many mouths. When it comes to the show ring Kajo has been shown only once in his life; at a large group show with 20 KBD's, here he was 2nd best male and received a rCAC.
Structurally these two dogs compliment each other beautifully, with little to no structural faults between them. Pam is lacking angulations in the front and Kajo fits this fault perfectly. They both have beautiful heads, tails, strength, and overall structures. From this pairing we are expecting attractive dogs that fit within the standard both in structure and size.
Finally, being that the Karelian Bear Dog population and diversity is so low it is vital to produce litters that are diverse in genetics and this combination does just that with a pedigree COI of 1.76% and a KVP of 0.64 over 8 generations; we can also easily see the pedigree all the way back to the 1950's. Their shared pedigree can be seen HERE.
We hope that a number of these puppies will have the opportunity to work large game and/or show in the conformation ring in whichever part of the world they may end up in.

-CKC registration (AKC FSS registration will be done only on puppies moving to the USA and participating in shows/trials)
-DNA tested for proof of non-affected status of the current known health markers in the breed.
-First vaccine, done at ~8 weeks of age. Additional vaccines will be done if the puppies will be picked up at a later date.
-Microchip identification
-Several deworming's
-Puppy pack to go home with
-Pet insurance trial (4 weeks of coverage)
-Lifetime breeder support
**Puppies moving to the USA will have additional items on an as needed basis due to the 6 month minimum age; to be discussed with each home individually.
All of our puppies are sold on a limited registration and a co-ownership until spayed/neutered; unless otherwise agreed upon.
