This litter means a lot to us as it is our first one and will lay the foundation for many generations to come.
As a veterinary technician, genetic health is very important to me; both of these dogs have passed their required health tests plus a few additional ones and neither carry any diseases the breed is affected by (prcd-PRA, HPP, CD, and PD) or any colour faults.
In June of 2022 Evita and I traveled overseas to take part in a number of shows; where she proved to do amazingly well. She earned her 3 Finnish CAC's and 3 CACIB's (Finland, Estonia, and Spain) in addition to completing her Estonian Championship and her Spanish Championship. Evita also placed second in the female class at the World Dog Show in Spain, earning her the unofficial title of Vice World Winner '20. Then in the fall of 2023 we travelled back to Finland where she completed her C.I.E title with the FCI. The C.I.E (International show champion) is a title given out to dogs who earn international show certificates from 3 or more countries with the timeframe of 366 days or longer and is an incredible accomplishment for a dog that doesn't reside in an FCI country.
Pikki also travelled to Finland in the fall of 2023 where he did incredibly well. He earned his Finnish Junior Championship in two days making him the fastest KBD to earn this title in history and the first non nordic living KBD to earn this title. During that trip he also earned his 2 CAC's as well as a CACIB-J and a CACIB, these will lay the foundation for him to earn his Finnish CH as well as his C.I.E in the future.
Although we do not actively hunt with Evita or Pikki, they have shown interest in large game several times. The first time Evita barked was at a deer when she was about 5 months of age followed by moose several times throughout her life. Evita has also visited a machine moose and a machine bear in Finland at about 2.5 years of age and again at 3.5 years, there she worked very well. Pikki has also shown interest in large game here at home, with the many moose and deer that cross our property. He also had a successful time in Finland this past fall (2023) where he barked at a machine moose and several live moose in the forest. Pikki also had a successful moose trial while in Finland where he earned 34 points, sadly that wasn't enough for a prized result as the moose took off running several KM and after hours of tracking/following Pikki ran out of time.
Structurally they compliment each other very nicely. Evita is a little light in bone, as are all of her littermates, she also lacks chest depth and has large wide set ears; Pikki has a beautiful model head and ample substance. Evita is also at the upper end of the height standard at 54cm and Pikki is an average male at 58cm; from this pairing we hope to get puppies that are average in size with a good amount of bone and chest depth in addition to workability. Being that the Karelian Bear Dog population and diversity is so low it is vital to produce litters that are diverse in genetics and this combination does just that with a pedigree COI of 2.31% and a KVP of 0.55 over 8 generations; we can also easily see the pedigree all the way back to the 1950's. Their shared pedigree can be seen HERE.
We hope that a number of these puppies will have the opportunity to work large game and/or show in the conformation ring in whichever part of the world they may end up in.
All the puppies will come with the following:
-CKC registration (AKC FSS registration will be done only on puppies moving to the USA and participating in shows/trials)
-DNA tested for proof of non-affected status of the current known health markers in the breed.
-First vaccine, done at ~8 weeks of age. Additional vaccines will be done if the puppies will be picked up at a later date.
-Microchip identification
-Several deworming's
-Puppy pack to go home with
-Pet insurance trial (4-6 weeks of coverage, dependant on the company used)
-Lifetime breeder support
All of our puppies are sold on a limited registration and a co-ownership until spayed/neutered; unless otherwise agreed upon.
